Produce Clerk, Sunny Farms Country Store – Sequim, WA

In search of a hardworking, enthusiastic, customer-focused and friendly clerk to join our team to help ensure our produce area is well-stocked, clean and running efficiently. If you do not already know your Cosmic Crisp from Ambrosia apples, or how to trim broccoli, your confidence will grow with time – plus the products are labeled. If you do already know these things and have relevant experience, we can use your skills! There is always something to do and learn in the Produce department.

Presenting a collage of fresh, crisp, bright fruits daily, this is a fast-paced, physically demanding position – speed and efficiency are key. On the job training is provided, you bring the energy! Two full-time positions are available. Days off and shifts are variable. You can count on working at least one weekend day.

Sunny Farms is looking for a strong and dependable person to fill an early morning 'Wet Rack' position. This particular job gets the sales floor ready for business each morning and will also help sorting/rotating incoming product deliveries into designated coolers. Expect to be tired at the end of the day. You'll earn it.

Another important position is that of Soft Fruit clerk. Nimble hands and a keen eye are crucial to success of this employee. Produce in general is delicate and the building of displays without crushing the bottom layer is a skill Sunny Farms appreciates. You'll be amazed how many varieties of apples, peaches and pears we sell!

Responsibilities:

• Trim, wash, sort, build and maintain fresh fruit and vegetable displays.
• Rotate product on displays to ensure quality, freshness, and eye appeal.
• Help ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation requirements throughout your daily work.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing food preparation areas, tools, and equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Help ensure the store is clean, safe and in order.
• Help ensure that products are accurately labeled.
• Help breakdown incoming freight loads.

Requirements:

• Previous grocery/retail experience helpful. Produce experience is great!
• Customer service oriented. Expect to be interrupted and still smile.
• Ability to interact with customers of diverse backgrounds in a positive manner.
• Team player -- work well with others.
• Detail oriented. Dexterity and speed will develop.
• Good communication and people skills. Some customers use the telephone.

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations. Most positions at Sunny Farms require physical effort to varying degrees. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards and safe lifting techniques.
