Job Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager the Production Scheduler / Raw Materials Coordinator will work closely with the Procurement Director, Warehouse, Production and support functions to ensure the manufacturing operation has stock of all raw materials to run safely, efficiently, and on time while maintaining premium quality standards. This person is responsible for preparing the production schedule, creating schedule revisions based on material availability and staffing, and the procurement of the raw materials needed for timely & efficient production. This position has two direct reports and requires supervisory responsibilities. This position operates in a fast-paced manufacturing facility. This position will require someone who is willing to get their hands dirty and get on the plant floor, whether that is assisting in cycle counts, troubleshooting an issue on the floor, or filling in for a supervisor when the team needs support. We are a team, and we operate as such.
Major Job Functions
- Create and maintain the production schedule
- Maintain proper inventory levels for all items using forecasting, historical volume, and standard re-order point methodologies
- Use SAP to issue Purchase Orders for supplies needed to operate the plant efficiently
- Maintain the inventory of raw materials and communicate with accounting regularly to address any pricing or inventory concerns
- Work closely with the managers and sales to ensure that targeted inventory levels and purchasing volume are in line or exceed customer demand without risking expiration
- Utilize team to ensure regular inventory cycle counts are occurring the keep inventory variances low
- Responsible for inventory levels and resolution of slow-moving raw materials
- Ensure all safety and health standards are followed and schedule is crafted to not create safety risks
- Develop and coordinate periodic RFP processes with the company's non-commodity vendors to ensure optimal pricing is being obtained on a continual basis.
- Motivating, supporting and providing guidance to all team members.
- Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting the facility
- Provide quick responses to production issues.
- Ensure that company deadlines are met.
- Serve as a plant leader. Although this position isn't a direct supervisor / manager role, this role will still be a leader in the plant and is expected to conduct themselves accordingly.
