Sunnyside Gardens Community Association, Inc. is seeking a Park Associate for Sunnyside Gardens Park. Our Park is open 10 AM to sundown, 7 days a week, including most holidays. The Park Associate is responsible for a mix of administrative work in the office and operations work on the Park grounds.
This is a year-round position requiring 30-40 hours of work per week, including at least one weekend shift (possibly two to alternate with the Park Director) and working alternate holidays with the Park Director. There is a mix of opening and closing shifts during the week. This is an hourly position and eligible for overtime. The Park does not offer health insurance benefits at this time.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Fostering a welcome and opening environment at the Park, and building a rapport with members by assisting Park members, their families, and guests in person and via email and telephone; monitoring Park activity to ensure compliance with Park rules.
● Computer work processing reservations, membership applications, and bills; sending membership emails.
● Light facilities work to ensure the Park operates smoothly. Managing daily operations such as opening and closing the Park depending on your shift, and dealing with outside vendors (meeting delivery trucks and contractors).
● Assisting with Park event planning and volunteer management.
● Assisting in overseeing seasonal staff.
● Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
● Excellent communication skills.
● Reliable worker who can open/close facilities and oversee staff activities.
● Excels at working in a family-oriented environment, with and around children of all ages – toddlers through high schoolers. Past experience working with small children in a school, recreation, or enrichment program is a plus.
● Familiarity with computers; experience with billing and reservation systems a plus.
● General problem-solving skills, comfortable working with outside vendors, and managing appointments.
● Experience handling cash and other payments.
● Background check is mandatory.
About the Park: Our Park is located on 3.5 acres and includes two playgrounds, a picnic grove, and several sports facilities. The Park is governed by a volunteer board, and employs a staff of 3-10 people seasonally. Over 600 local families are members and use the Park year-round.
