Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join the Sunnyside Street Dogs family! The Kennel Technician will work closely with both animals and clients, contributing to a positive experience for pets and their owners.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and other facilities to ensure a safe environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments as needed.
- Support dog training sessions and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Engage with pet owners, providing excellent customer service and answering questions about services offered.
- Assist in administering medications as directed by supervisor.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills in animal handling and care.
Skills
- Proficiency in heavy lifting to manage large or active animals safely.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
- Knowledge of veterinary practices is preferred; experience as a veterinary technician is a plus.
- Experience in animal care, including handling various breeds and temperaments.
- Familiarity with kennel operations and protocols for animal safety.
- Ability to perform animal restraint techniques safely and humanely.
- Basic understanding of dog training principles is beneficial.
- Skills in pet grooming are an advantage but not required.
