An Elementary School Counselor provides individual and group counseling to young students, addressing social, emotional, and academic concerns, collaborating with teachers and parents to support student development, and implementing preventative programs to foster a positive school climate; focusing on building coping mechanisms, conflict resolution, and self-esteem within an elementary school setting

  • Parent Consultation:
    Meeting with parents to discuss student concerns, provide support, and collaborate on strategies to address challenges at home. 
     
  • Teacher Collaboration:
    Partnering with teachers to identify student needs, provide interventions, and support classroom management strategies. 
     
  • Crisis Intervention:
    Responding to immediate crisis situations and providing necessary support to students in need. 
     
  • Assessment and Referral:
    Administering assessments to identify student needs, making referrals to appropriate services when necessary. 
     
  • Program Development:
    Designing and implementing school-wide programs on topics like bullying prevention, self-esteem building, and transition support. 
     
  • Data Analysis:
    Tracking student progress and utilizing data to inform counseling interventions. 
     
  • Advocacy:
    Collaborating with school administration to advocate for student needs and promote positive school climate initiatives.
