Position Purpose & Description:
Position acts as a Lead Direct Support Professional in their scheduled Department for Sunrise Enterprises of Roseburg, Inc., a private non-profit Corporation that provides employment and community inclusion services for adults with disabilities. This position is responsible for assisting in the training, supervision, and motivation of trainees to meet their employment goals, work at or above their established productivity level, and assist them in achieving their highest potential. This position is also responsible for the safety of trainees and ensuring their work meets our quality standards. The DSP also acts as a mentor for other DSPs.

Qualifications:
  • High-school diploma or GED, AA degree in related field preferred, and two years’ experience working with adults with I/DD in an employment setting, or acceptable combination of experience and education.
  • Basic computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office products, and ability to learn additional software.
  • Must have ability and desire to relate to persons with physical/mental disabilities with dignity and respect.
  • Proven, stable employment history.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and insurable by Sunrise insurance carrier.
  • Pass criminal history check may include fingerprints.
  • Pass drug screen including marijuana/THC.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification, complete DSP and Core Competency training and documentation requirements, and may need to obtain OIS Certification.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Must be physically able to assist trainees, including with hygiene/personal care if needed.
  • Must be able to perform job tasks of trainees. Walking, sitting, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending frequently.
  • Must be able to lift 10-50 lbs. frequently.
  • Possible driving and transporting trainees and program participants.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, pollens, and various weather conditions; potential of noise exposure requiring ear protection; writing and computer work; use of machinery in a production environment as well as large equipment at employer locations.
  • Ability to multitask and handle/diffuse tense situations.

Essential Functions:
  • Complete required training(s) within timeframes (core competencies, DSP trainings, First Aid/CPR, etc.)
  • Ensure that trainee’s production timings are current and conducted exactly as specified in the job description or task analysis.
  • Ensure that all task analyses and norms are set per Department of Labor guidelines and standards.
  • Mentor other staff members on trainees’ ISPs, job norms, and production timings.
  • Ensure job stations for trainees are set up before their shift begins. Ensure processes are in place to keep the flow of material to job stations constant.
  • Supervise and motivate trainees to ensure they are working safely at least at their established productivity and skill level.
  • Supervise, motivate, and encourage trainees to increase their productivity level and learn new skills.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by a physician and maintain medication log.
  • Complete attendance sheets, timecards, and Paycor entry for trainees.
  • Perform duties and complete tasks as requested by supervisor in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training(s) each year.
  • Maintain agency records in a professional manner consistent with prescribed guidelines and expectations.
  • Participate in the development of ISPs with Employment Services (must come to agreement of ISP before presenting to ISP team).
  • Submit all required paperwork to respective recipients per scheduled due dates (e.g., record training efforts, trainee productivity, progress towards ISP goals, case notes, incident reports, etc.).
  • Keep relationships with trainees professional and limited to work settings and supports. Notify your supervisor of any conflicts of interest due to preexisting relationships with trainees.
  • Perform production duties as requested specific to the assigned department.
  • Observe scheduled work hours and workdays.
  • Report any incidents of negligence, abuse, emergencies, or problems to the appropriate agency, person, or supervisor per company policies and procedures.
  • Do not exceed responsibility/authority delegated to you by supervisor.
