About Sunrise: Since 2015, Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center is the largest provider of homeless services in Travis County! We offer pathways to housing for people experiencing homelessness through low-barrier access to wraparound services by providing innovative, trauma-informed, and person-centered programming that engages our communities and leads system-wide transformation. Through the Sunrise Hub day center, Sunrise Hotline call center, Sunrise Mobile outreach and shelter services, and Sunrise Housing program we serve more than 8,000 people experiencing homelessness each year.
Position Summary: The part-time Payroll Specialist at Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center will prepare bi-weekly payroll for 60 employees, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and maintaining accurate records. The role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in payroll software (Rippling), and effective collaboration within the organization.

Position Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree and/or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Non-degreed applicants with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum of 1 year of payroll preparation or processing experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization
- Proficient in payroll software (Rippling) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll for 60 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data, including staff directory, timesheets, job allocations, deductions, and benefits
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to Director of Finance for review and processing
- Lead the annual year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution
Position Considerations:
- This is a part-time, contract position with flexible hours, approximately 30 hours bi-weekly
- The role will require adjustments in schedule to meet payroll deadlines during each bi-weekly payroll run close
- The Payroll Specialist is required to attend staff meetings
