Job Summary and Qualifications

• You will be responsible for facilitating the transition from a retrospective, reactive model for risk management to a prospective, proactive loss prevention, harm reducing patient safety program
• You will direct others within the facility towards process improvements that support the elimination of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes
• You will initiate and oversee the development of a comprehensive patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data and demonstrate a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy
• You will report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility and present informative and actionable patient safety reports to appropriate committees to include high level presentations to Leadership, Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or health-related field required
• Master’s Degree in nursing or health-related field preferred
• Current license as a registered nurse or health professional in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation
• Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) current and active or, required to be obtained within 12 months of hire date
• 5 years clinical experience in a healthcare setting required
• 3 years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality required. Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
