Region VII Area Agency on Aging/Sunrise PACE is a non-profit organization that helps seniors, adults with disabilities and their families have greater independence in their homes and communities and is known for the great care we take with clients and employees alike. We believe in advocating, planning, developing, and supporting a comprehensive system of quality care and services designed to achieve the optimum level of health, well-being, and independence of people as they age. Sunrise PACE is located in Ft. Gratiot, MI. PACE is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly and is an alternative to nursing home living. Services provided by Sunrise PACE enable those 55 years of age or older to age in place in their home or community setting of their choice.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Drivers are responsible for transporting clients or handling deliveries in a timely manner, and they may have to work nights and weekends to accomplish their duties.
RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
- Transport clients and/or packages to and from destinations
- Arrive at destinations on schedule
- Fulfill administrative needs, like office pickups
- Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays
- Use navigation applications to determine the best route
- Interact with clients professionally at all times
- Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
- Report vehicle repairs as needed
- Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A valid Michigan driver’s license with Chauffeur endorsement and at least one year of driving experience to perform the job safely
- Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations
- Time management and organizational skills to keep track of deliveries and stay on schedule
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients
- Physical stamina and good upper body strength to lift heavy luggage, packages and objects, as well as be able to load and unload them from their vehicle
- Possesses a high school diploma or work experience in lieu of educational requirement.
- Has basic computer skills, a mechanical aptitude, is a self-starter who takes initiative and pride in his/her work.
- Possesses a positive attitude and keen awareness of his/her surroundings.
- Is task oriented and is able to complete tasks in a timely basis in order to meet the demands of this position
- Is respectful of the personal property of others, the office environment and grounds.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills, and physical strength as needed to accomplish assigned tasks, and the professional ability to work effectively with persons affiliated with public and private agencies and units of government.
- Must be willing and able to travel within all counties of the region (and at times out of region)

OSHA CATEGORY: It is unlikely that a person in this position in the regular course of business would encounter tasks or situations involving exposure to bodily fluids. Employee is required to attend Blood-borne Pathogens training on a regular basis as a precaution and to follow all guidelines of said training if an event should ever present itself. Due to the necessity of operating a wide variety of equipment both inside and outside the facility, a pre-employment drug test is required, and also testing for physical abilities as needed to perform the duties of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The duties of this position require an individual to be able to lift at least 75 pounds. He/she also performs tasks involving the operation and general maintenance of motorized and manual equipment requiring an ability to reach, pull, push, climb and twist. Whenever feasible, ergonomic equipment and tools will be provided by the agency to most efficiently and safely reduce physical demands. Reasonable accommodation may be made, if possible, to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
