The Resident Care Director serves as the nursing clinical leader for the community, overseeing health and wellness, coordination of care and services for residents. This role involves managing care programs, regulatory compliance, recruiting, and performance management.
Managing Health and Wellness
The Resident Care Director provides strategic leadership for resident care in the community by managing, directing, and monitoring the nursing team to promote the health and wellness of the resident population.
This includes providing clinical care through the direct application of the nursing process, performing and documenting resident assessments and progress notes, evaluating changes in care needs, completing Individualized Service Plans (ISP), and evaluating resident outcomes.
The Resident Care Director collaborates with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services for residents.
Serving as the CLIA Director, this role ensures federal and state/provincial requirements are met.
Medication Management
The Resident Care Director provides strategic leadership for resident care in the community by managing, directing, and monitoring medication care managers to promote the health and wellness of the resident population.
This includes oversight of the community medication management program to promote resident safety in the medication use process, including onboarding, training, and performance reviews.
The Resident Care Director provides clinical training and education to nurses, medication care managers, care managers, and others who provide resident care.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
The Resident Care Director tracks, trends, and reports clinical quality data to identify risk, participates actively in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee, and leads clinical quality and process improvement initiatives within the community.
This role also involves recruiting, hiring, and training clinical team members, and is responsible for performance management, evaluations, and engagement.
Financial Management
The Resident Care Director manages the department budget, understanding its impact on the community's bottom line, processes and submits monthly expenses and budget data in a timely manner, and understands internal costs associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.
Training, Leadership, and Team Member Development
The Resident Care Director partners with the Regional Director of Resident Care and/or Executive Director in the delivery and participation in Sunrise University training and self-study programs.
This role involves holding clinical teams accountable, correcting actions when necessary, and documenting, as well as maintaining compliance with required training and regulations.
Requirements
A graduate of an accredited college or school of nursing with a current state/provincial license as a professional Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
Minimum two (2) years RN experience, preferably in home health, assisted living, or long-term care environments, along with minimum one (1) year nursing management experience, is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of applied nursing practices, techniques, and methods, as well as experience in tracking, trending, and analysis of clinical performance data, quality and clinical process improvement, and staff development, training, and/or clinical education, is desired.
The ability to handle multiple priorities, organize efficiently, and manage time effectively, as well as computer proficiency with electronic medical records, the Microsoft Office suite, and the ability to learn new applications, is required.
Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours as needed for resident care/services, including 24/7 on-call responsibility, is necessary.
