Summary: Directs a team of professionals, including offshore personnel, responsible for conducting the financial reporting activities for owners. Prepares and reviews financial transactions and information to ensure that the accounting ledgers, financial statements, and other financial reporting of the owners are complete, accurate, and in compliance with applicable regulations, accounting and reporting standards, and internal policies. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining direct relationship with counterparts at owners, the distribution of financial statements, management reporting, and other regulatory reporting; cash management for owner portfolios and maintenance of adequate accounting and reporting control environment. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining direct relationship with other departments, overseeing offshore personnel and preparing audit schedules and support.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Responsibilities:- Performs general accounting activities, including the reconciliation and review of ledger accounts and financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules
- Reviews, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
- Trains, supervises and reviews work prepared by offshore personnel including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Provides financial support to other functional groups including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget
- Analyzes cash needs of owner portfolios to ensure adequate working capital is available.
- Regularly delivers reporting to owners and is able to effectively translate technical accounting/financial concepts to non-technical audiences when needed.
- Maintains direct working relationships with owners to allow for information sharing and collaboration
- Directs the team's transformation of data into information for financial reporting purpose, reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness. Resolves escalated identified issues, addresses quality control deficiencies and data errors with the team, and develops and implements process improvements.
- Prepares corporate audit schedules for assigned areas and ensures timely resolution of auditor questions/requests.
- Partners with other functional groups including all other accounting areas, asset management, financial systems and treasury to address owner inquiries.
- Directs, motivates and develops staff team maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth and their ability to build and sustain a team culture of efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably Accounting, Information Systems, or Data Analytics related.
- Minimum of three (3) years of reporting related experience either in a financial reporting or FP&A role.
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
- Significant experience working with large datasets and expert knowledge of various data analysis software packages and tools (e.g., MS-Excel, SAS, Peoplesoft ERP) is required.
- CPA / CPA candidate is preferred
