GIS Coordinator
Work Objective :
Provides senior level technical, analytical, and applications support in multiple functional areas requiring geographical information system (GIS) geospatial data and mapping resources. Perform tasks using ESRI, ArcGIS and GEOGRAPH software to support the reliable operation of the Engineering, Construction, and inspection teams of growing Telecommunication contractor. Key responsibilities include project management; analyzing user requirements; creating, integrating and maintaining interactive GIS applications, GIS layers and customer databases. Performs moderately demanding tasks to assist in the customization of software and applications related to public and private utility installation and maintenance.
Responsibilities :
Maintain multiple enterprise GIS databases and execute related changes to associated schema.
Support and manage GIS applications based on growing business demands.
Provide technical guidance to GIS users.
Develops, updates and improves the GIS layers, makes modifications to the geodatabases to meet current needs and
Create customized mapping processes to automate map production using ArcGis desktop and Web GIS software.
Assist in designing, developing, and implementing GIS workflows.
Assist with GIS field collection processes utilizing Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder or other related data collection technologies.
Participate in GIS coordination with other departments and local agencies in data layer sharing and development of standardized products and procedures.
Stay abreast with the latest developments in GIS field.
Performs related duties as directed.
Required Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Planning, Engineering, Surveying or related field.
Two to four years of experience in GIS within the ESRI desktop GIS applications (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro); or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience.
Experience in working with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise systems.
Spatial analysis and geoprocessing tools expertise (geocoding, linear referencing, routing, networks, CAD-GIS interaction, metadata, symbology, web-based mapping applications, WMS / web services.)
Experience with mobile GIS data collection and GPS accuracy standards.
Genuine enthusiasm toward learning, pushing technical limits and finding new solutions.
Ability to think analytically and solve problems.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction.
Preferred Experience :
Familiarity with Geograph Technologies CrescentLink.
Familiarity with Bluebeam PDF markups.
Familiarity with CAD file and data types (.dwg, .dgn) and data conversions / interoperability.
Familiarity with civil design data and utility networks, primarily telecommunications.
Experience with geoprocessing automation using Python and / or ArcGIS ModelBuilder.
GISP or other professional certifications.
Physical Requirements :
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Vision to allow prolonged periods of computer work.
Vision to allow differences in colors, shades and brightness.
Must be able to tolerate moderate noise (business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic).
Light to moderate lifting is required.
