The Clinical Support Specialist position completes various responsibilities to assure patient care and clinical programming are successfully provided. An employee in this position may conduct some or all of the below essential functions.
Essential Functions
- Assists with patient access to treatment, which may involve providing transportation services.
- Perform clinical duties which may include but is not limited to, screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling: individual, group, family, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reports and record keeping, consultation with other professionals.
- Collecting and processing toxicology screenings.
- Maintain patient records and produce timely documentation of services rendered, if authorized to do so by license or credential.
- Covers basic administrative staff responsibilities, such as answering phone calls and staffing the front admin. area in times of need.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient accounts.
- May assist in the preparation, organization, serving and cleaning up of patient meals (specific to PHP programs).
- May assist with errands, such as obtaining supplies, shopping, picking up necessary items (specific to PHP programs).
- Remain current with changes in policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in relevant continuing education and in-service training to improve professional competency.
- Maintain professional work conduct and ethical confidentiality.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, scanners, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
The work hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:30a a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for sites that offer PHP services. If the location does not offer PHP services, the work hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This position may require occasional Saturday hours.
Travel
Minimal to moderate travel may be required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
This position requires a QMHS or CDCA certification or higher, including but not limited to LCDC, LICDC, LPC, LPCC, LSW LISW, and at least six months of experience working in the addictions field.
Preferred Education and Experience
At least one year of experience working in the addictions field.
