Are you a dedicated leader with a passion for senior care and a strong understanding of Minnesota's assisted living regulations? We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) to oversee and lead the operations of our assisted living community. As a LALD, you will be responsible for the overall management, compliance, and culture of the community-ensuring exceptional care and meaningful experiences for residents, while fostering a supportive and professional environment for staff.

About the Role:

As the Licensed Assisted Living Director, you'll manage the day-to-day operations of the assisted living community, including staff leadership, resident care coordination, regulatory compliance, and business performance. This is a high-impact role that requires strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills, and hands-on leadership to guide the community toward excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Supervisor (CNS).

  • Conduct staff evaluations, implement performance improvement strategies, and ensure ongoing professional development.

  • Maintain staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage based on resident acuity and service needs.

  • Lead monthly in-services, monitor staff retention, and oversee unemployment claim responses.

  • Ensure all staff are compliant with licensure requirements and training standards.

Resident Services & Care Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the CNS to oversee resident assessments, service planning, and delivery of high-quality personal, medical, and emotional care.

  • Lead admission and discharge processes, ensure accurate documentation, and maintain payer source verification.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, physicians, and case managers.

  • Respond promptly to concerns, grievances, and incidents-leading investigations and ensuring resolution per policy and Minnesota state regulations.

  • Promote a culture of dignity, safety, and resident-centered care.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal assisted living regulations, including MN Statute 144G and BELTSS standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, facilitate care conferences, and coordinate required monthly updates with case managers.

  • Monitor service delivery to ensure it aligns with care plans and billing practices.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee daily community operations, including facility cleanliness, safety, and preventative maintenance.

  • Lead food service planning, infection control practices, and emergency preparedness protocols.

  • Review and manage vendor contracts and support maintenance coordination.

Financial & Business Management:

  • Develop and execute an active marketing and census-building strategy aligned with the community's budget and care mix goals.

  • Provide tours to potential residents and families, serve on local committees, and maintain strong referral networks.

  • Collaborate on annual budget development and monitor expenses, payroll, and purchasing to support fiscal responsibility.

  • Ensure timely billing and support families in understanding service costs and waiver options.

Professional Development & Licensing:

  • Maintain active licensure as a Licensed Assisted Living Director in Minnesota (or acquire an Assisted Living Director in Residence permit within 30 days of hire).

  • Pursue ongoing professional development, including required continuing education in dementia care if applicable.

  • Stay up to date on best practices, regulatory changes, and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Current Minnesota LALD license or eligible for a provisional permit from BELTSS within 30 days.

  • Proven leadership experience in an assisted living or long-term care setting.

  • Strong knowledge of MN 144G assisted living regulations, assessments, care planning, and staff supervision.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with residents, staff, families, and partners.

  • Must meet the physical and sensory demands of the role, and be available for on-call support 24/7 as scheduled.

  • Current driver's license with a clean record.

Work Schedule:

Full-time salaried position. Requires flexibility, including availability for weekend, holiday, and on-call duties as needed to support 24/7 operations.

Salary : $79,040 - $83,200
