Job purpose
Sunset Farm Foods is seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to oversee safety protocols and procedures at our food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all regulations, mitigate risks, and foster a culture of safety amongst employees. The Safety Coordinator at Sunset Farm Foods is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and health for all employees within the manufacturing facility. This role is critical in safeguarding the well-being of employees and promoting a culture of safety first. The Safety Coordinator will oversee incident reporting, maintain OSHA 300 log tracking, conduct safety training, and implement safety programs including maintenance and constant revision of the company safety and health guide.
Duties and responsibilities
- Implement and oversee safety programs and policies.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Investigate incidents and accidents and provide reports as necessary.
- Maintain and update workers compensation claims, OSHA 300 log tracking.
- Coordinate safety training for employees.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety initiatives.
- Promote a safety-first mentality among all employees.
- Lead emergency response and evacuation procedures.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate workplace hazards and risks
- Teaching supervisors, managers and other leaders in the company about health and safety standards
- Presenting safety training sessions to the company
- Conducts research and maintains liaison with insurance company for workers compensation administration
- All other duties as assigned
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Work effectively with all team members within the department as well as other departments for optimal performance and quality.
- Identify and communicate issues that require immediate attention, great judgment.

- Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Conducting regular inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and potential safety issues.
- Providing safety training and education to staff members on protocols and best practices.
- Investigating accidents or incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintaining safety records and documentation for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Collaborating with management and safety committees to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Keeping abreast of changes in safety regulations and industry best practices to continually improve safety programs.
- Serving as a point of contact for safety inquiries and concerns from employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety (OSHA) , related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
- Experience with incident reporting and investigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Training and Certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Hazardous Material Handling training.
- Emergency Response training.
- Forklift/Pallet Jack experience.
Working conditions
- Exposure to cold and/or humid environments (temperature around 45 degrees).
- Work primarily on concrete floors.
- Moderate noise levels within the manufacturing facility.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance and/or reach with arms.
- Good vision and ability to see clearly in varied lighting conditions.
- Physical endurance to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and maneuvering equipment as needed.
