FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a Groundskeeper Supervisor Apprentice who will learn to supervise operations, coordinate activities, inspect grounds, ensure conformance to standards, rules and regulations. We need someone with leadership skills and a willingness to learn.
Primary duties:
Implement work schedule and guide coworkers to ensure that daily activities are properly implemented.
Learn to perform cemetery operations including but not limited to:
- Properly digging graves
- Installing outer burial containers
- Installing headstones
- Become familiar with all aspects of grounds and landscape duties from equipment usage, fertilizing, irrigation, hardscape, plantings, manicuring turf and ornamental beds, horticulture, mulching, snow and ice management, mowing.
- Inspect, evaluate, and report damaged equipment and deteriorating tombstones, slabs, and vaults.
- Maintain a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an aptitude for mechanical work either from formal training or experience.
- Ability to operate equipment and machinery including tractors and other mowers. Back-hoe experience a plus.
- Familiarity with computers including Microsoft applications (Excel and Word) a plus.
- High school equivalency required.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Other Skills Abilities:
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended period of time.
- Ability to work in hot and/or cold conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 to 100 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
