What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Independent Behavioral Health Provider position at Sunset Health?
Maintain the following core competencies:
- Provide quality clinical consultation to providers and medical staff in areas of individual, adult, family, child and adolescent mental and behavioral health related issues.
- Provide evidence-based, solution focused behavioral interventions and behavioral change planning, including psychotherapy and psychoeducation, as needed, for patients/clients referred to behavioral health via Sunset medical providers and Sunset team members.
- Conduct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and provide treatment for the benefit of patients’ overall physical and mental health, in accordance with the most up to date diagnostic manuals and standards.
- Cultivate education, administration and self-management skills for targeted populations with psychological or behavioral health issues.
- Administer evidenced based assessment tools with appropriate scoring and feedback.
- Working knowledge of effective Motivational Interviewing.
- Interacting with medical staff and understanding Primary Care Physician roles and Behavioral Health Provider role to assist PCP with the client.
- Promote primary health care staff’s knowledge of patient/client behavioral health issues and provide education to assist with enhancing primary care utilization of behavioral health interventions.
- Promote a smooth interface between medicine and specialized mental/behavioral health care throughout the organization.
- Supervise associate level Behavioral Health Provider(s) as needed, and maintain compliance with Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) licensing rules and clinical supervision requirements, including the educational requirements for clinical supervisors.
- Provide clinical oversight to the Behavioral Health Technician(s) and/or supervision to student(s)/intern(s) as needed
- Advise on a system which allows for collaboration and co-manages the patient’s/client’s behavioral health care with consistent, expeditious feedback to referring providers.
- Consult with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
- Assist in the assessment of customer needs for support in education, social development, functioning, and daily living. Provide referrals to other Sunset team members when needed, such as Sunset Community Health Workers.
- Ensure confidentiality for clients at all times.
- Utilize ethical decision-making model(s) when navigating ethical concerns that may arise in the course of clinical practice and abide by relevant professional ethical code(s).
- Assist with reengagement efforts as needed to ensure consumers are involved in treatment services.
- Coordinate for and provide as needed off-site availability for crisis triage and intervention.
- Be available, be proactive, and be flexible.
- Assist with billing issues related to behavioral health integration.
- Advise on programmatic improvements specific to behavioral health and participate in quality audits and improvement efforts.
- Advise and assess as necessary for preparation of professional reports on such matters as services offered, program, personnel, and other aspects of Sunset operations in support of behavioral health services at Sunset; research and compile statistical data; maintain records and reports, utilize a computer and related software.
- Conduct Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) early intervention and assist in development of standards for implementation of SBIRT and other screening tools as needed.
- Provide consultation regarding best practices and functional considerations related to development and implementation of electronic documentation of the clinical behavioral health aspect of patient/client interventions and tracking of patient referrals to specialty behavioral health care.
- Maintain knowledge of medical and mental health agency rules, regulations and standards. Required to be familiar with, abide by, and enforce all State of Arizona, Behavioral Health Agency, AHCCCS, Office of Behavioral Health Licensing (OBHL), and Sunset Health regulations.
- Ensure that all facility infrastructures are properly maintained.
- May develop and deliver company presentations to the medical/mental/behavioral health staff, community groups and represent the company on various community and other agency committees as required.
- May be assigned to serve on special committees and conduct various meetings as necessary.
- Attend medical/mental/behavioral health staffing and regular supervision meetings as scheduled.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
