Job Summary
The Bartender is responsible for greeting guests, making and serving beverages, upselling, and ensuring proper cash handling and credit procedures, while exceeding guest expectations by providing friendly, prompt, and attentive service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain complete knowledge of :
- All Bar1200 features / services, layout, hours of operation, policies, and procedures.
- All brands and types of liquor, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic selections.
- All bar menu items- preparation, presentation, and pricing.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest and hotel information.
- Properly follow recipes to make and serve a wide variety of mixed drinks using an extensive range of ingredients.
- Attend to guest needs and requests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Orders, requisitions, and stocks all liquor, beverage, and other bar supplies according to company standards.
- Consistently collect, wash, sanitize and restock all barware, and tableware.
- Consistently follow sequence of service process (i.e. greet guest in timely manner, table touching, check presentation, etc.)
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
- Properly and thoroughly set-up all areas of Bar1200; perform all pre-opening, opening, and closing side work duties during shift (e.g. ensure that floor drains are clear of debris).
- Continuously observe bar guests to ensure that guests are satisfied with food, beverages, and service; immediately recognize and respond to guest's needs and / or requests.
- Check identification to verify legal age (21) requirements for all guests.
- Abide by all control, regulations, laws, and procedures related to food / alcohol service, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Establish rapport with bar patrons to build loyal, satisfied, and future guests.
- Resolve generic guest complaints and inform management of any situations where a guest may express further concern or dissatisfaction.
- Responsible for timely check presentation and retrieval, billing / credit card / payment and collecting feedback from the guest.
- Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies and procedures.
- Adhere to FIFO (first in first out) rotation.
- Consistently check, restock, and maintain par levels during shift (i.e. napkins, ice, ingredients, etc.)
- Must be able to cross-train in other Food & Beverage related areas.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all work areas.
- Inform management of any situations where a guest may express concern or dissatisfaction.
- Work cohesively with co-workers, outlets, and departments while maintaining a positive "can do" attitude.
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
- Perform and complete additional duties assigned by management in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High volume, fast-paced restaurant / bar experience preferred. Hotel / / resort environment experience preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of :
Micros POS system experience is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Food Handlers card is required.
Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) Certification is required. .
Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification is required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Proficient in English- verbal and written.
Additional language(s) is a plus.
Other Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Must be able to pass drug and background screening.
Must have flexible work availability- all shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
