Overview:
The sun does really shine bright at Sunshine Child Development Center! Thank you for your interest in our program. We are a proud high-quality Bright Stars program offering education and child development for children six weeks to five years old as well as an out of school time program for children attending the North Kingstown school district. We are in search of a Head Toddler Teacher to join our growing team!
Lead Teacher positions are full-time, full-year Monday through Friday, must be available within our hours of operation 630 AM-6PM. Full-time employees earn benefits that include:

- Responsibilities:
- The Lead Teacher is responsible for all aspects of a particular age group/classroom, including, but not limited to:
- Creating a safe and nurturing environment
- Responsible for overseeing, developing, implementing and coordinating developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment of children
- Attending meetings
- Communicating positively with parents, children, and co-workers daily
- Supervise classroom staff
- Ensure equipment and facilities are clean, well maintained and safe always
- Teachers are responsible for the supervision of children at all times by sight and sound and maintaining the correct student/teacher ratio
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Education Requirements: Minimum CDA or Associate's Degree in ECE.
- Minimum Associates Degree with at least 24 credits towards Early Childhood Education
- Knowledge of RIELDS, NAEYC, BrightStars, and DHS regulations preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with children in age group/classroom assigned and in a child care/early learning center
- Knowledge of Teaching Strategies preferred

- Ability to attend meetings/trainings after normal business hours
- Ability to be engaged in physical exercise with children such as walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting, etc.
- Must have visual and hearing acuity
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Minimum 20 years of age
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
- Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check
- Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS)
