POSITION SUMMARY
Provide assistance with program components and development as it corresponds to the year-round youth outreach program for elementary aged students. Perform and complete delegated tasks assigned by the supervisor as it relates to weekly, summer, fall, spring, and winter seasons. Contribute to ideas and planning as delegated. Actively participate in team meetings and complete tasks assigned by the supervisor as requested. Participate in recruitment and encouragement of students for student council and additional enrichment programs. A desire to work with elementary aged students. Ability to facilitate small and large group activities centered around kid friendly concepts and adhering to the blueprint of the program as governed by the Elementary School Program Director. Committed to a certain hours per week or month as needed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS
- Engage in and demonstrate servant, mature, and positive leadership as staff
- Participate and take initiative in program ideas and implementation of activities and events
- Actively take ownership of recreational program components, ensuring that all students receive quality physical activities pertinent to their physical growth
- Take leadership in leading small or large group activities
- Facilitate, and organize bible study groups for students
- Administer a sound, stern, and clear approach to disciplinary measure as needed for program
- Demonstrate a command and professionalism with public speaking in a youth centered environment
- Participate in the ongoing mentoring of male and female students alongside Program Director
- Provide leadership and programmatic support in other departments of the Youth Outreach department
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
RELATED DUTIES
Monday through Thursday during the school year. In the Summer Monday through Friday. Additional hours and times determined by part time availability.
EDUCATION SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
NOTE: Sunshine Gospel Ministries is a not for profit faith-based organization. This position is a ministerial role and will perform all or some of the following responsibilities: sharing the Gospel, leading Bible studies, and modeling behavior that is consistent with Christ’s teaching.
REQUIRED:
- A High diploma or GED equivalent
- At least one year of hands-on youth work experience with elementary age students including but not limited to developing relationships with students, families, schools and community resources and leading groups of students in academic, extra-curricular and spiritually enriching activities is preferred.
- Must be able to use discretion and judgment when dealing with confidential information
- Reliable and predictable attendance is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Working around young children in an open office environment. Responsible for executing the appropriate supervision, counsel, and mentorship of students in different capacities.
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a public building and/or outdoors and thus will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times.
