What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extruding Operator position at Sunshine Minting?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
To work together and feed heated billets into an extrusion press to transform them into strips.
QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs work of a recurring nature requiring mechanical aptitude; produce products according to verbal or written instructions; operation of hand tools and operation of equipment as necessary
•Must be able to lift up to 85lbs regularly
•Must be able to stand, sit, walk, or bend as needed
•Must be able to push carts, with or without assistance
•Must be able to properly communicate with co-workers and Supervisors
•Must be organized, able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
•Must be able to work safe and always stay focused
•Extrude orders; load billet oven; ensure everything is running correctly
•Grease extruder (first shift only, or as needed)
•Able to cut strips and stack billets
•Good and reliable attendance, Employee must be able to be at work, on time, and ready to work at start of shift each day
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Must understand quality of silver
•Must be able to correctly read and use a mic and calibers
•Must be able to tolerate a hot environment
•Ability to plan and prioritize work schedules
•Must be able to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and management
•Must be able to successfully work as part of a team
•Assure that strips are clean when stacked on cart, no fingerprints, lint or grease
•Assist in training of new people on Extruder
•Communicate with Melt Room and Break down about silver quality
•Must be able to wear all required protective safety equipment
•Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months manufacturing related experience; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the Employee is regularly required to stand, bend, sit or kneel. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is of moderate temperature and moderate loud noise level; hearing protection is required. Gloves must be worn and changed frequently and continuously throughout the day. Work may be performed near moving mechanical parts dependent upon task.
