What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreational Therapy Aide position at Sunshine Terrace Foundation?
Summary: Coordinates and provides daily therapeutic activities for residents of the Sunshine Terrace Skilled Nursing Facility. This job is 30 hours per week. The shift runs from 9:00 AM to 4 PM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to the following. Other duties may be assigned to the meet department and facility needs.
- Interact positively and enthusiastically with residents, their families, and fellow employees.
- Plan, gather supplies and conduct therapeutic recreational activities for residents.
- Complete participation charting of activities on a daily basis.
- Assist in brainstorming activity ideas that address our resident's physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive needs.
- Conduct one on one interviews with residents to assess their interests and personal preferences for activities.
- Assist in maintaining, updating and providing progress notes for resident activity care plans.
- Drive company vehicle for resident outings as occasions permit.
- Uphold confidentiality of protected health information.
Job Requirements
- Education - Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Therapeutic Recreation Technician License - This is required within 9 months of the hire date. The cost for obtaining this license is covered by the Sunshine Terrace Foundation.
- Experience - Previous experience with a geriatric population is highly preferable but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
- Willingness to work as a team is must.
Supervisory and Reporting Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Recreation Therapy Director
