Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources and Payroll Specialist. This employee will be responsible for the effective management and analysis of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) including Payroll benefits. This role combines technical expertise in HRIS with a comprehensive understanding of payroll administration to ensure accurate data management, compliance with regulations, and excellent employee support. The Human Resources and Payroll Specialist collaborates with HR, IT, and external vendors to optimize system functionality and enhance the employee experience.
Duties:
- Oversee and maintain optimal function of the HRIS, including but not limited to installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrade to applications, systems, and modules.
- Identify value added HR platforms to improve efficiency within our HRIS Systems for automation, analytics, reporting and data management capabilities and focusing on employee self-service.
- Payroll Administration within HRIS including but not limited to updating employee changes, review new hire information and accurately process payroll from timesheets to paycheck. Resolve any payroll issues including monthly, quarterly and annual tax issue resolution.
- Process ExPat monthly Payroll
- Lead annual performance management process including, but not limited to development/review/update of the HRIS process, training management & employees in the process and championing policy.
- Develop, document and maintain the HRIS process workflow for systems main functions.
- Set up and manage Annual Benefit OE in HRIS system. Including, but not limited to designing OE template, employee instruction sheet, working with HR Director regarding employee meetings, updating benefit deduction codes.
- Work with HR Director during plan renewals and implement new benefit offerings in HRIS system. Ensure smooth integration between HRIS and vendor systems.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits. Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting.
- Lead or participate in HRIS and benefits-related projects, including system upgrades, new benefit plan implementations, and policy changes.
- Conduct HRIS training sessions and develop user guides and FAQs.
- Meet with employees on an as-needed basis to discuss and/or provide training on HR processes and procedures.
- Build and update self-service portal and communication portal within HRIS system.
- Track and manage production attendance policy for bi-weekly payroll processing and bi-weekly/monthly communication to manufacturing team members.
- Liaison with Sunstar Japan HR office and HCM monthly, quarterly and annual headcount/payroll reporting.
- This position is also required to perform other related duties as assigned by the department manager or president.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in HRIS software, advance Excel skills and experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
- General knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources preferred.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with individual and small/large groups.
- Exhibit good judgment in decision-making.
- Development of positive working relationships throughout organization.
- Solid analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Able to plan, organize and manage work and projects in a fast-paced environment with no supervision.
- Able to maintain absolute confidentiality in all aspects work.

- Must be proficient in MS Office applications.
- Must be able to travel between company buildings, work off schedule hours and stand for periods of time.
