Required Skills and Experience
- Mechanical experience of 3-5 years troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing all types of construction equipment preferred
- Possess an appropriate tool set for the position
- Experience in Electrical, Hydraulic, and Diesel Engine preferred
- Tractor/trailer air brake systems very helpful
- Welding and fabrication is a plus
- Valid driver’s license
- Current medical card
- Excellent verbal and written English communication abilities
- Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting up to 90 pounds
- Frequent exposure to the elements
Responsibilities
- Perform minor and major repairs on gas and diesel engines, complex hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains to include manual and power shift transmissions on equipment and trucks
- Assist in training new mechanics, as requested by supervisor
- Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment
- Perform novice level welding repairs (MIG & SMAW)
- Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications
- Perform routine service on equipment which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluid and lubricating
- Maintain all decals, safety warnings and company ID stickers.
- Prepare/maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment
- Maintain accurate warranty records
- Complete accurate parts orders
- Notify Branch Manager or designee of damaged equipment or warranty situations prior to initiating repair
- Maintain company equipment – keep in clean, orderly condition
- Maintain work area and equipment
- Accurately manage inventory
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Attend technical classes to ensure compliance with standards
- May perform other duties as assigned
