Job Summary: Performs recurring, routine-to-skilled repairs and maintenance on a wide variety of facilities operated by Sunstone Way, including residential and commercial buildings, housing units, portable building structures and other properties. Work tasks include plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, electrical troubleshooting, and special projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs maintenance on housing units, sleeping structures, buildings, and connexes/shipping containers.
- Performs non-Journeyman level repairs, maintenance and installation/removal to plumbing, electrical, and facility systems.
- Conducts preventative maintenance to facilities, including building systems, structures, and fences.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of storage and work areas.
- Painting, both indoor and outdoor.
- Assembles, packs, and moves, office, shelter equipment, furniture, and supplies.
- Troubleshoots and problem-solve issues.
- Supports special projects and other duties as needed.
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, vendors, and community partners by telephone, e-mail, or in person.
- Responds in timely manner to tenant/manager/public and emergency services trouble calls.
- Completes and maintains documentation of maintenance and repair activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and codes.
- Procures supplies and equipment to complete scheduled maintenance, repair and special projects within established guidelines and manager approval.
- Participates in snow removal and mitigate ice situations as needed.
- Mitigates rodent, insect, mold and biohazard situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years’ experience in facilities maintenance, general maintenance and repairs with plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, electrical, and use of the internet.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Associates’ degree
- Two years’ experience utilizing general building code knowledge, OHSA safety standards.
- Experience in a nonprofit, social services organization
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Skilled in use of power and hand tools
- Knowledge and experience in general construction trades
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as a team
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and charts
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, speaking, and drawing
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to perform basic math, occasional intermediate math, including determining slopes
- Ability to distinguish between different colors
- Being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
- Broad knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical repair, electrical maintenance, carpentry, metal fabrication and troubleshooting.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to maintain a clean driving record.
- Must be able to provide own reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a background check upon offer.
- Must be able to work in a drug-free environment.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.
Work environment:
Working indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, and in adverse weather I Slippery and uneven walking surfaces I Working in close proximity to others I Exposure to offensive odors I May be required to work in confined spaces, on ladders and roof tops I Occasional need to respond during off hours to work sites in emergency situations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted with occasional lifting to 70 lbs., bending, stooping, reaching, sit for extended periods of time, standing for extended periods of time. This position involves computer work and keyboard fingering.
Travel required:
Frequent travel to and from other work sites up to 100% of the time.
