The Deli Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction through effective leadership and management of the Deli Team. This position is responsible for upholding high standards in quality, variety, selection, food safety, and sanitation across all products sold and produced in the Deli.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and educate other deli team members on these procedures.
- Prioritize customer satisfaction and build loyalty by delivering outstanding service.
- Oversee food deliveries, verifying product quality and quantity upon receipt.
- Maintain high standards in food preparation, presentation, and portion control to ensure an acceptable dining experience.
- Monitor budgets, payroll records, and financial transactions to guarantee authorized and budgeted expenditures.
- Schedule staff hours, assign duties, and oversee training, supervision, and performance evaluation of Deli Clerks.
- Manage retail prices to achieve the agreed-upon gross margin percentage.
- Keep accurate records of sanitation and food subsidies as required by government agencies.
- Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations.
- Conduct regular inventory checks, maintaining accurate records of food and equipment stock.
- Perform various food preparation or service tasks when necessary, such as cooking, clearing tables, and serving food.
- Collaborate with the store manager as needed, including being available on call.
- Maintain quality deli products through proper rotation procedures, monitoring cases for damaged items, and adhering to health and sanitation guidelines.
- Plan menus and food utilization based on anticipated guest numbers, nutritional value, palatability, popularity, and costs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Hold ServeSafe Certification (obtained within 30 days of hire)
- Minimum 1 year experience managing a fast-paced deli successfully
