We are looking for an individual leader with a proven track-record of multi-unit leadership to lead Chicago Harbors. This individual will offer leadership and provide support to our marinas and will be involved with varying operations roles from administration support, training, budgetary support, Sales/Marketing support. Additionally, this individual will be the liaison between the Chicago Park District and Suntex Marinas.
The Regional Director is responsible for driving results and maximizing the business potential and success of their group of Marinas. The Regional Director needs to work collaboratively with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Harbor team, Marina Managers at each property and the Suntex Home Office to create and execute short- and long-term business plans. He/she could also assist in training, coaching, and assisting the Chicago Harbor Team and Marina Managers on other functions as well.
This position leads the required team of individuals to meet and carry out the strategies, plans and programs to achieve the annual business plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaison between the Chicago Park District and Suntex Marinas
- Assist with the formulation of financial and business plans/goals and targets to achieve the appropriate Marina financial and guest experience
- Achieve revenue plans and margins through the appropriate processes
- Establish operating plans, goals, targets and work with the regional support team to execute
- Review performance against plan and provide ongoing coaching to support plan achievement
- Promote collaboration to identify opportunities, share best practices, and solve problems to achieve each Marina objectives
- Provide leadership and direction to General Managers within the Chicago Harbors to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved for gross revenue, gross operating profit, guest satisfaction, and employee engagement
- Identify, analyze, and present value-add projects that help grow the marinas’ income
- Strive to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of Chicago Harbors
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government regulations including OSHA, EPA, USACE, DOL, FCC, ABC.
- Lead the process to receive approval from local authorities for value-add projects.
- Ethics: The Chicago Harbors are owned by the Chicago Park District and are subject to administrative law, namely the Code of the Chicago Park District. Violations of the code subject the company to a loss of its contract and potential criminal prosecution to the violator. Adherence to the code and demonstration of the highest ethical standards are requirements for this position.
- Capital Improvements: Assist and direct annual capital improvements to the Chicago Harbors. (over the years, Westrec oversaw over $100 million in capital improvements).
- Ice Rinks.: Oversee the annual set-up, operation and decommissioning of the neighborhood ice rinks.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, Required
- 3-5 years of multi-unit management experience, required
- 8-14 years supervisory experience, required
- Business partner with developed business acumen, strategic mindset with an ability to formulate creative solutions
- Experience in governmental relations and contractual relationships
- Detail oriented with excellent time management and follow up skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of computer proficiency
