Essential Job Duties
Team Support Responsibilities:
- Prepares outside mortgage loan applications for originator in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
- Verifies that all loan applications are ready for processing or underwriting in accordance to requirements
- Compiles and verifies loan documentation to support member's loan application.
- Evaluates the accuracy of application in Loan Origination System.
- Completes any outstanding documentation requirements to ensure application is ready for submission.
- Provides support to the Mortgage lending team in all aspects of mortgage origination.
- Utilizes and organizes information gathered by the MLOs to prequalify borrowers.
- Provides support and information to facilitate online applications.
- Pulls loans from system, creates loan files, and assigns loans to the MLO.
- Prepares loan packages for processing and underwriting by obtaining missing documentation from those involved in the transaction.
- Updates borrowers, real estate agents, and titles companies on the loan’s progress.
- Assists the Mortgage Team with pipeline management to ensure target dates are met.
- Creates and maintains a report matrix of pre-approval applications, seminar attendees, purchase agreements, and expiration of offers.
- Maintains the monthly storage of application lists, ensuring records are retained according to retention guidelines.
- Provides information and training on administrative duties to Mortgage staff so they can serve as back- up.
- Assists Mortgage Operations with processing duties as needed.
- Opens membership for applicants who are non-members by opening savings/checking accounts to establish CU membership.
- Perform other tasks as needed, to support the Mortgage Team.
- Interviews and processes mortgage loan requests by appointment, web application, phone, and walk-in.
- Provides a superior member experience by:
- Actively listening to and assessing needs of the member and non/member
- Explaining the features and benefits of targeted products and services
- Offering targeted solutions to meet the members needs
- Educate and advise members of financial planning, credit worthiness, underwriting guidelines, interest rates and products. Provide sufficient information so that the members can make an educated decision on the product and rate chosen.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (specifically MS Excel and Word); demonstrates ability to learn and effectively utilize in-house programs and third-party mortgage lending software.
- Basic knowledge of mortgage lending documents and terminology.
- Possesses basic understanding of laws and regulations governing lending and financial institutions, as well as knowledge of lending guidelines.
- Complete all steps required to register and renew, yearly, with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). Ensure that all personal data is kept up to date with NMLS. Complete SAFE Act training as required by the Credit Union.
- Minimum one year’ experience working with real estate loans or related field.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent or more than 1 year of experience in lieu of education
- NMLS license required (must be able to obtain within 90 days)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.
