Overview
SunWest Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mortgage Lending Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance to members throughout the mortgage loan process, from application to approval. As a Mortgage Lending Officer, you will assist members in securing financing for home purchases, refinances, and home equity loans while delivering exceptional service and building lasting relationships.
You will work closely with prospective borrowers to assess their needs, evaluate financial information, and recommend the best loan products to suit their goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mortgage products, local market trends, and underwriting requirements, along with a passion for helping members achieve their homeownership dreams.

Essential Duties
· Develop mortgage loan business through member engagement, calls to realtors, contractors, and other industry contacts.
· Meet individual goals for production of new mortgages and other products.
· Interview loan applicants and assist members with the loan application process. Handle mortgage loans of highest complexity, values, and risk. Obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports on applicants. Prepare mortgage loan application and document packet for closing. Complete transactions with service providers required for each transaction.
· Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application. Approve or deny real-estate loan applications and explain reasons for denial.
· Monitor rates and pricing for residential loans to ensure competitiveness with marketplace. Monitor the marketplace for changes in the industry or changing trends.
· Support overall growth of the Credit Union by generating referrals for additional products.
· Ensure compliance with mortgage loan policies, procedures, services, products, NCUA rules and regulations, secondary market standards, and federal/state real estate lending laws.
· Assist in the ongoing servicing of residential mortgage loans that are held in portfolio or sold with servicing retained.
· Assist in maintaining procedures for the mortgage loan department that are up to date with regulations and requirements.
· Prepare and ensure accuracy of regular reports to department leadership.
· Work with delinquent mortgage borrowers and assist in taking action when necessary.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required with five-years or more in financial services/lending.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent personal and professional leadership skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent reading, writing, grammar, and intermediate math skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office products or similar software programs.
- Maintain existing or obtain new notary designation.
- Maintain existing or obtain new NMLS certification.
(3-5 Years MLO experience preferred)
Compensation
Starting pay range for this position will be ($23-$25 per hour)
Plus .25% back on every dollar booked
