What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Specialist II position at SunWest Federal Credit Union?
Job Summary: Responsible for processing, controlling and balancing daily, weekly and monthly credit union activity in an accruate and timely manner. Provide exceptional member service to members and internal staff at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews source documents and records daily transactions. Balances and posts daily write-ups and journals.
- Maintain Credit Union fixed asset functions, including adding and retiring assets, monthly depreciation functions and monthly Fixed Asset spreadsheets.
- Maintain offline Mortgage related functions.
- Review and maintain dormant accounts, to include annual escheatment process of member accounts and official checks.
- Performs member wire transfers, maintain various wire spreadsheets on daily basis.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts as assigned, prepare monthly certifications.
- Performs various vendor related processes (CPI Insurance, Allied Products, GAP, extended warranty, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, etc.)
- Maintiain Credit Union Accounts Payable functions.
- Uphold the compliance requirement of all related federal regulations, including but not limited to; the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering policies and procedures. Complete annual BSA training requirements as established by SunWest Credit Union.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- College graduate with degree in finance, accounting, business, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and related computer applications.
- Minimum one to two years accounting experience. Valid driver’s license required.
- Understanding of Credit Union Philosophy
- Excellent computer efficiency (MS Office/Word/Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to operate PC and other computer systems and software, including office equipment
- Required reports and records are accurate, complete and timely
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivy standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
