We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Director/Embalmer or Funeral Arranger to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional service to families during their time of need, guiding them through the funeral planning process with empathy and professionalism. This role requires a blend of customer service skills, sales acumen, and a deep understanding of bereavement support.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct funeral services, ensuring all details are handled with care and respect.
- Provide bereavement support to families, offering guidance and comfort during difficult times.
- Manage all aspects of funeral directing, including preparation, logistics, and event planning.
- Collaborate with families to create personalized funeral plans that honor the deceased’s wishes.
- Dissect and prepare bodies for viewing, ensuring proper sanitation and adherence to health regulations.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology in the preparation process.
- Perform cosmetology tasks to enhance the appearance of the deceased for viewings.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to funeral services.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
- Transportation of decedents from the place of death to the funeral home or crematory.
- Willingness to obtain a cremationist license and learn crematory operations.
Experience
- Proven experience in customer service in a funeral home or related field.
- Strong sales skills to assist families in selecting appropriate services and products.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential for body preparation tasks.
- Familiarity with cosmetology practices is a plus for enhancing the appearance of the deceased.
- Previous experience in event planning will be beneficial in coordinating services effectively.
- A compassionate demeanor with excellent communication skills is crucial for supporting grieving families.
- One year of funeral directing or arranging.
- If an embalmer, one year of embalming experience.
