SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic candidate for a full-time, 12-month position as Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator. This position reports to the Director of Public Safety.
The successful candidate will : advise the Director on the development of emergency management, environmental, health and safety programs and implement these programs as developed; act as a resource person in the environmental, fire and safety inspections on campus, classroom activities and work practices to ensure compliance with EPA, PESH and / or OSHA standards as well as other applicable state / federal safety regulations; The incumbent will be responsible for developing and delivering environmental and occupational safety training and educational programs, researching technical areas and making required reports.
Requirements :
A Bachelor's degree is required. Degree specialization in environmental safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety or other functionally relevant field desirable. Relevant work experience may substitute for degree specialization depending upon qualifications.
Further education and training / relevant certifications beyond the bachelor's degree are preferred, including completion of Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) training course and other relevant conditions as required by the NYS Department of Health in order to become the campus RSO of record with the NYS Department of Health. If the employee does not have the certification upon hire, they may be required to obtain this license within two (2) years of hire.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in environmental safety, industrial hygiene, or a technical, scientific, engineering or related field required.
At least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience is required.
The candidate must have a sincere dedication to the field of Environmental, Health and Safety with a willingness to be on call 24 / 7 as needed.
Possession of a valid driver's license required.
Additional Information :
The annual salary for this position starts at $60,631.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
