The University Eye Center (UEC) of the State University of New York College, is seeking an Office Assistant 1 (NY HELPS). This title is part of the New York Hiring for emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
Responsibilities / Job Functions :
- Greets patients in a professional, courteous manner upon arrival to the service.
- Interacts with patients to serve their needs and provide assistance and information on the telephone or in person with regard to the services.
- Prepares all necessary forms that need to be processed for the patient (HIPAA, assignment of benefits, etc.) and have them scanned into the EMR in a timely manner.
- Effectively makes the necessary appointments and referrals for services upon exiting.
- Effectively works with the computer terminals data entry, retrieval, and processing of information in the NextGen and EHR systems, while processing UEC patients.
- The quality and volume of work must be acceptable and timely.
- Answers telephones in an appropriate, professional manner and schedules patients in the appropriate slots.
- Performs the following tasks in the clinic areas : verification of demographic information, print reports and reconcile information, obtain basic insurance information, conduct follow-up on no-show and cancelled appointments, contact the call center to complete insurance during registration, and enter copays / insurance cards.
