TITLE/SALARY GRADE: Food Service Worker 1, SG-5
LOCATION/UNIT: Cranberry Lake Biological Station
DURATION: Temporary- full time/ 5 months
SALARY: $15.95 hourly Note: current or reconstructed salary for State employees in accordance with NYS audit and control
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The SUNY ESF Cranberry Lake Campus Food Service unit provides staffing for the Cranberry Lake Biological Station. The Food Service Worker 1 (FSW1) position includes food preparation and service activities. Cranberry Lake Food Service team serves 19 to 21 cafeteria style meals per week to groups ranging from 20 to 70 per seating. The team also serves food to special groups visiting the campuses, as well as during commencement, open houses, family weekends, orientations, barbecues, and other special events. At special request, bagged meals may be provided to students and visiting groups that will be working outdoors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of all meals.
- Maintain kitchen/dining area in compliance with state, county and college health codes.
- Clean the facility such as washing all dishes, cleaning kitchen area, wiping down tables and serving area following all meals.
- Maintain sanitation standards such as collection of garbage/recycling materials for appropriate disposition.
- Checking in and putting up stock
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: There are no education or experience qualifications for this class, but incumbents must be able to speak and write English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Boater Safety Certificate (or willingness/ability to obtain)
- At least one year food service experience in residential college kitchen setting
- At least one season food service experience in remote field camp kitchen setting
Additional Information:
Approval must be granted by Civil Service prior to filling this position pending clearance of redeployment roster, transfer list, reemployment roster, or placement roster.
