In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and administering a systematic cleaning program of assigned building areas per established guidelines and building a positive work environment for cleaners and janitors.

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and administering a systematic cleaning program of assigned building areas per established guidelines and building a positive work environment for cleaners and janitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- planning and scheduling staff assignments and cleaning services
- arranging for shifting of personnel to handle emergency cleaning projects
- supervising the arrangement of premises for special events including graduation exercises and conferences
- ensuring staff understand and adhere to workplace protocols
- making recommendations regarding personnel actions including hiring, disciplinary action, overtime, changes in pay, and terminations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have permanent appointment in a Supervising Janitor, SG-11, classified position; or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for SUNY Geneseo’s area location for the Supervising Janitor, SG-11 position; or be transfer eligible.
New York State preferred list candidates have preference.

DEPARTMENTAL OPERATING NEEDS
- Experience with cleaning practices and procedures, including equipment and effective custodial work performance standards
- Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, read, write, and communicate
- Record of dependability and past work performance, including satisfactory time and attendance record
- Possession of computer skills adequate to work with computerized maintenance management systems and other computerized applications as assigned
