The Office of Graduate Admissions at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Graduate Admissions. Reporting to the Executive Director of Admissions, the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions leads the recruitment and enrollment efforts for the university's graduate programs serving graduate domestic, international, and online students. This position is open to a hybrid work structure and will require working days on campus. The Associate Director will participate in and coordinate activities, events, and programs that promote the various graduate programs. The Associate Director is responsible for student recruitment, coordinating admissions application and review process, as well as follow up activities in support of graduate program enrollment goals and the mission of the university.

Duties include:

  • Representing the University professionally and ethically at recruiting events, conferences and meetings, traveling independently.
  • Assisting with the development of a graduate recruitment strategy including external audiences and current SUNY Oneonta students.
  • Researching and identifying target markets and recruiting venues, analyzing trends and assessing effectiveness of recruitment events.
  • Utilizing innovative recruitment techniques and marketing methods to develop, plan, organize and execute a recruitment program.
  • Coordinating social media strategies that target key constituents, in coordination with Communications and Marketing personnel, including content generation.
  • Employing effective and professional communications/marketing skills, generate and respond to inquiries, provide consistent and professional recruiting information, and communicate proactively with external agencies (partner universities, school districts, private sector businesses).
  • Delivering marketing and promotional presentations to diverse audiences both in person and virtually.
  • Implementing effective practices in the coordination and review of applications including document management, student relationship management and application review processes.
  • Working proficiently with the Slate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Job Requirements:


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in college admissions or similar setting
  • Experience developing and delivering persuasive presentations to prospective students and community organizations
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Successful track record leveraging technology in recruitment or similar processes
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel, and work evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and proven ability to learn and use new technology, including social media and university systems

Preferred:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Previous experience in graduate admissions
  • Experience Slate or other similar CRM tools
  • A record of highly motivated, self-directed and results-oriented accomplishment
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
