The Office of Communication and Marketing is a select team of creative practitioners focused on strengthening SUNY Oneonta's reputation and supporting institutional priorities through strategic, coordinated efforts to promote the university. Staff responsibilities encompass marketing, advertising, management of the university website and institutional social media channels, media relations, content development, digital media production, graphic design, printing, and identity and brand management. The ideal candidate will be a growth-mindset, self-starter who can work independently to manage tasks and meet deadlines, and a team player who is excited to collaborate with Communication and Marketing colleagues to develop website content that supports enrollment marketing and reinforces the university's brand identity.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Design new web pages to highlight university news, student profiles, new academic programs and other marketing priorities using the Drupal CMS WYSIWYG and adhering to UX, SEO and accessibility best practices.
- Triage web requests from offices and departments; review content for clarity, accuracy, relevance to target audiences and alignment with brand guidelines; make routine web page edits and develop new content as appropriate.
- Maintain a web content calendar to manage time-sensitive content changes.
- Monitor, identify and resolve (when possible) issues with website performance (load time, server errors, etc.), SEO and accessibility.
- Conduct quality assurance (QA) testing for Drupal updates and releases.
- Select and resize images from the university's photo library for updates to existing pages and development of new web pages; and write appropriate alt text.
- Provide training and support to website editors.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years of relevant professional experience in digital content creation/management
- Excellent organizational, project management and critical thinking skills, ability to multi-task and work under pressure; ability to prioritize competing demands and complete action items efficiently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
- Strong digital design skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, sound judgement and decision-making; adaptable, and possessing a positive attitude
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in web design, marketing, communications, or a related field
- 3 years of relevant professional experience in digital content creation/management
- Familiarity with marketing principles and digital content strategy
- Strong understanding of web design principles and best practices
- Writing skills, include storytelling and writing for the web
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver
- Experience with WCAG accessibility standards
- Experience with SEO strategies and website testing tools
- Experience working in or with higher education
- Experience working with and serving diverse populations
