What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Athletics - SUNY Orange position at SUNY Orange?
The Director of Athletics oversees the leadership and management of the intercollegiate athletic program. This role ensures the College's adherence to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) guidelines and requirements, while also developing and executing a strategic plan to promote the success of the SUNY Orange athletic program.
The position requires a flexible, non-traditional work schedule, including weekends and evenings, to support the College's athletic activities. The Director will also be required to travel between College campuses and to other colleges' campuses or related sites.
Job Requirements:
Education Required: Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience Required: Five (5) years of experience in the administration of intercollegiate, high school or professional athletics or related field. Supervisory experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
- Intercollegiate coaching experience.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
- Community college or higher education experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, athletic department colleagues from other colleges, all SUNY Orange constituents and the public.
- Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to coordinate work flow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to present complex information and data in coherent fashion
- Bilingual skills.

Salary: $54,786-$72,592 per annum; commensurate with experience. This is a Staff & Chair, Grade 60, 12 month position.
