The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing fast and effective technical assistance for Tier-1 and Tier-2 issues. This role serves as the primary point of escalation for all end-user, administrative, and instructional hardware and software concerns. The technician must communicate clearly to understand problems and explain solutions, prioritize tasks, and manage their workload effectively. A customer-focused and patient approach is essential, particularly when working with occasionally frustrated users, while continuously improving the IT department's customer service. This position will support both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses, with travel between campuses required.
Job Requirements:
Education Required: Associate's degree in a computer-centered discipline with three years of required experience or five years of required experience.
Experience Required: Experience as a computer/desktop technician or related customer support role, experience supporting MS Windows 10 and newer, and experience supporting the MS Office or Office 365 suite of applications. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining end-user technology including PCs, laptops, projectors, televisions, and peripherals.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
- Pertinent Bachelor's degree
- Ability to proactively identify tasks that need attention
- Aptitude for training and quickly developing new skills and knowledge
- Excellent multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization skills & ability to work independently
- Knowledge of IT software, hardware, and network setup
- Proficiency in remote desktop and helpdesk software
- Security certifications
- Bilingual
