Job Description : The Part-Time Mental Health Counselor (PTMHC) will facilitate counseling sessions with students. The PTMHC has a flexible schedule, with an average of 10 hours per week (hours may vary based on need). The PTMHC position will work in person at both the Newburgh and Middletown Campuses. This role has no remote hours.The Part-time Mental Health Counselor must be licensed in the state of New York as either an LMHC or LCSW and must be able to practice independently as per state regulations.Requirements : Education Required : LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)Experience Required : Two years of counseling experience (can include supervised hours)Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics :
- Experience working with young adults.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, including experience in scheduling and keeping track of appointments.
- Precise and thorough note-taking ability.
- Ability to research and learn about current mental health trends and counseling best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact professionally with the Wellness Center team, students, staff, and faculty.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to categorize and prioritize incoming requests.
