What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Assistant - Biology and Clinical Laboratory Science, FT Tenure Track - SUNY Orange position at SUNY Orange?
The Technical Assistant will perform laboratory duties and techniques related to Biology and Clinical Laboratory Science (media preparation, teaching lab preparation, bacteriology, etc.). Assists with cost estimates and coordination of purchases and receipt of equipment and supplies. Assists with set-up and preparation of various culture media and specimens for use in microbiology labs. Ensures a safe and healthy work environment by complying with college's health and safety policies, standard practices, and programs in keeping with the occupational health and safety laws and regulations. Position requires support for all campuses.
Job Requirements:
Education Required: Associate's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Technician
Experience Required: Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
- Current NYS certified and licensed as medical laboratory technician.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Community college or higher education experience.
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents, and the public.
- Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to coordinate workflow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to present complex information and data in a coherent fashion
- Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites.
- Bilingual Skills.
