What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visiting Assistant Professor position at SUNY Potsdam?
The Department of Psychology at SUNY Potsdam invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position, to begin Fall 2025. The area of specialization is Counseling/Clinical/School Psychology. This position is open until filled.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in Psychology or master's degree with more than two years of Counseling/Clinical experience.
We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications:
Special preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching such courses as Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Tests & Measurements or School Psychology at the college level.
We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups.
Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job:
The successful applicant will be prepared to teach a variety of courses within their area of specialization (i.e., Counseling Theories & Methods, Abnormal Psychology, etc.).
