Job Description:
The Rockefeller Institute of Government is seeking candidates for a part-time Facility Operations Assistant to work in and around 411 & 415 State Street as well at 13 Henry Johnson Boulevard which are all located in Albany, NY. Duties of this position will include the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, check, and patrol each building inside and out to detect and report any irregularities, dangerous conditions and or hazards.
- Cleans buildings and facilities, which include but is not limited to vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors; emptying trash receptacles, washing lavatories and fixtures within; dusting and polishing wood, staircases, and metal fixtures.
- Performs a variety of routine building maintenance tasks such as changing filters in fan coil units, unclogging toilets and sinks, and changing light bulbs.
- Operates self-propelled and motorized equipment such as a leaf blower, floor cleaner, carpet cleaner, salt spreader, and pressure washer.
- Perform general grounds maintenance such as trimming brush, seasonal planting, maintaining sidewalks and entrance ways, removing trash from the building and other surrounding areas.
- When required, set up chairs, tables, podium and related equipment for conferences and special events.
- Assists in the receiving and shipping of various office and maintenance materials.
- Keeping inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. Availability late afternoons and evenings.

Hours: 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. M-F
Note: This is a permanent position in the labor class jurisdictional classification. Candidates should be aware that a preferred list, transfer list, placement roster and/or reemployment roster of laid off State employees may be certified against this vacancy by the Department of Civil Service.
