Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Professor for Networking in our STEM Department.
This is a full-time, probationary faculty appointment, starting August 18, 2025, to teach Cisco and Microsoft networking classes in the Network Administrator A.A.S. program for the SUNY Ulster Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Department.The assigned work year runs through spring graduation in May. The position will require an annual base teaching schedule of up to 30 contact hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to do the following:
An initial starting salary of $54,000 – 67,500 will be commensurate with education, training, and experience per academic year with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.

- Teach day or evening Cisco and Microsoft networking courses in the Network Administrator A.A.S. program at either our Stone Ridge or Kingston locations
- Oversee the networking laboratory servers and computer systems
- Ensure the program and courses Network Administrator A.A.S. are kept up-to-date and relevant
- Have the ability to teach in a variety of learning modalities such as face-to-face, HyFlex, or remote as necessary given the needs of the college
- Utilize the Brightspace learning management system for all courses
- Participate in departmental and campus-wide meetings as appropriate
- Work with the STEM Department Chair in coordinating the program and keeping it
- Perform duties described in Board policy, the faculty collective bargaining contract, and as assigned at the Stone Ridge, Kingston, and/or other designated locations
- A Master’s degree in a relevant technology field
- Cisco and Microsoft industry certifications appropriate for teaching the 100- and 200- level classes in the Network Administrator A.A.S. program
- College-level teaching experience
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests
- Familiarity with both the Cisco Systems and Brightspace LMS
- Demonstrated ability to teach at a community college, using varied teaching methods that engage students in their own learning and include learning outcomes that motivate students to develop higher-order critical thinking and problem solving skills
