Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Director of Plant Operations.The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for the protection, preservation and maintenance of campus facilities; management and planning of departmental activities; preparation of department budget; and supervision of departmental personnel and programs. The Director reports to the Dean of Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish hours for maintenance, housekeeping, and shipping and receiving staff.
- Approve all leave requests and comp/overtime needs in accordance with College policies.
- Prepare annual budget identifying staffing and other needs.
- Assist the Dean of Operations with the development of the annual Capital Improvement Plan.
- Coordinate maintenance and housekeeping activities.
- Maintain control over College property.
- Develop intermediate and long-term programs and staffing needs, including contingency plans for financial curtailments, to preserve and improve the campus facilities.
- Work with Public Safety and Campus Community to preserve and ensure a place of personal safety for the College community.
- Evaluate staff and make recommendations for promotion.
- Implement appropriate collective bargaining agreements.
- Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree
- Knowledge of basic building and grounds maintenance
- Past evidence of supervisory ability, and
- A demonstrated history of professional and personal integrity.
And
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Salary:
An initial starting salary of $73,900 will be commensurate with education, training, and experience per academic year with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.Additional Information
