Job Summary:

The Department of Pathology and Cancer Center are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for the role of Research Data analyst to support cutting-edge AI-driven cancer research initiatives at the department. The successful candidates must have experience with data science, bioinformatics, and computational pathology to integrate and analyze complex and large-scale datasets, including AI model outputs, molecular and/or next-generation sequencing data, and patient outcomes. The goal is to uncover meaningful correlations that enhance our understanding of cancer biology and improve clinical decision-making. The analyst will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of researchers and clinicians to manage and analyze complex longitudinal data derived from Electronic Health Records (EHR), Laboratory Information System (LIS), including molecular and genomics data along with AI model outputs derived from pathology and radiology imaging.

Required expertise and skills:

  • Develop and implement advanced data pipelines for cleaning, quality check, integration, and visualization of healthcare and biomedical data.
  • Experience in data quality assurance procedures to ensure the validity and reliability of study results.
  • Prior experience with analyzing multimodal datasets, including outputs from AI models, pathology imaging, molecular data (e.g., single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics), and clinical records.
  • Develop advanced data analysis pipelines and statistical models to analyze complex datasets and uncover patterns related to patient outcomes, survival, and disease molecular characteristics.
  • Experience with numerical modeling, data visualization, and data analysis, utilizing statistical software tools and programming languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, or etc.
  • Strong background in applying deep learning and AI methodologies, especially in the context of medical imaging and cancer research.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and quality outcomes.

Required Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including pathologists, oncologists, computer scientists, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists, to interpret and integrate biological or technical insights.
  • Clearly document and present research findings, methodologies, and conclusions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals, including developing preliminary data and supporting renewals. Motivation to apply to own research grants, both intramural and extramural.
  • Lead independent research initiatives, contributing to advancing computational and data-driven approaches in oncology.
Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related disciplines. Minimum 2 years (or more) of experience in healthcare or biomedical data analysis.
