Job Summary:
Provides administrative support for department of rehabilitation: Completes front end responsibilities, checking in patients and registering accounts. Verifies patient insurance benefits and retrieves authorizations daily. Consistently monitors accounts to ensure necessary steps have been taken for proper reimbursement of insurance companies. Stays current on changes and updates from insurance industry. Other clerical duties assigned as needed. Must be able to communicate effectively in order to transfer information, as well as complete a variety of tasks within a given timeframe. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills are necessary. Computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
For consideration for this title, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible list or eligible for transfer
Or
Promotional:
You must be a qualified employee of the State University of New York and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or as a Nursing Station Clerk 1
Or
Open Competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:
Two years of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting.
