The metal finisher is responsible for the final stages of metal fabrication, using a variety of tools and techniques to improve the appearance and properties of metal surfaces, ensuring surfaces are free and clear of all debris, BBs, and similar, smooth, free of all rough edges, and properly prepared for weld and paint finishes (liquid or powder).

This position requires safety glasses, steel toed shoes or boots with metatarsal guards and (where required) hearing protection worn at all times while on the factory floor. Occasionally, the need may arise for other protective clothing that Super Steel will provide.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; occasionally required to sit and talk; frequently required to hear, walk and continuously stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Continuously exposed to manufacturing noise.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Polishes, grinds, and cleans metal surfaces.
- Removes excess weld as needed.
- Cleans welds to remove discoloration.
- Removes sharp edges by deburring.
- Cleans and prepares miscellaneous metals and structural parts for welding and paint.
- Grinds, files, or sands surfaces of metal items using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of metal finishing techniques.
- Examines and feels metal surfaces to detect defects, like dents, scratches, or breaks in metal.
- Smooths and polishes surfaces to a specified finish.
- May perform basic material handling duties using manual pallet jack and/or forklift to move material and stage materials.
- Adhere to all Super Steel and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned or required.

- High school diploma or general education (GED) one or more years of metal finishing experience.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with whole numbers and fractions.
- Must be able to read and use ruler, tape measure, and similar.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and customer specs.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos.
- Ability to properly clock in/out and complete all job-related paperwork.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.
