Outpatient Dialysis Tech : General job duties. Types of procedures required. Performs the delegated nursing interventions to the stable dialysis patient under direct supervision of the registered nurse. This may include but not limited to; initiation of dialysis, monitoring patient during treatments, discontinuing treatments, proper operation of the dialysis equipment, gathering and documenting pertinent patient information, and responding to alarms. Knowledge of and utilize appropriate age related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients of all age groups. Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Prepares dialysis equipment for patient treatment according to the dialysis prescription; this includes safety tests and setting alarm limits according to policy. Inspect the access site and perform cannulation of the dialysis access to initiate the treatment. Obtains blood samples via the dialysis lines or access site. Adjusts blood flow rates and fluid removal rates according to policy. Monitors and documents dialysis treatment parameters / vital signs and makes adjustments to treatment parameters, under the direction of the licensed nurse. Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments. Responds to dialysis related emergencies, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, under the direction of the licensed nurse. Administers the medication considered part of the hemodialysis treatment to include : Heparin, local anesthetic via intradermal route, and Normal Saline. Contribute to development of policies and procedures and standards for the technical aspects. Participates in the orientation and education of dialysis technicians. Documents and communicates performance improvement opportunities as it relates to systems and equipment to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies. Demonstrate proficiency in Equipment utilized in the unit / dept. Braun Dialysis Machines Required skills and minimum years of experience. Dialysis Experience- minimum of 2-3 years Specific licensures and certifications / registrations required. CCHT, BLS Shift or schedule requirements. 8 / 10 / 12 hour shifts Floating to over units / departments. NA. Bed size / number of rooms for this unit / dept. 15 station dialysis unit Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. Will maintain HD care with one RN Tell us about the unit / department specific training and orientation program. Will provide department orientation on department, water system, and dialysis equipment. This will also include policy practices
Comments : Guaranteed 36 hrs per week. 10 to 12 hr shifts between the hours of 5 am to 8 pm. With option to pick up hours
