Job Title: Medical Laboratory tech
Location: Exeter, NH
Shift: Days with some nights
Hours - 8 or 10 hours shift/ 40 hours GTD

Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) will perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations used in the analysis, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. The role involves using various analyzers or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids. The ideal candidate must be proficient in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology, and should have experience in a hospital or medical center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Testing and Analysis: Perform and assess the validity of qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using automated instrumentation or manual methods.

· Quality Assurance: Conduct established quality assurance procedures including quality control testing, instrument function checks, and calibrations. Maintain appropriate documentation and investigate deviations from expected performance.

· Result Validation: Assess the accuracy and validity of test results by applying scientific principles. Identify critical changes and probable causes for irregular findings.

· Record Keeping: Maintain records of tests, examinations, and final results for patient care inquiries.

· Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot instruments, resolve technical problems, document corrective actions, and report issues to the department Supervisor or Manager.

· Training and Instruction: Assist in instructing students and laboratory personnel in diagnostic test principles and techniques.

· Phlebotomy: Perform phlebotomy according to established protocols.

· Order Entry & Specimen Receipt: Perform order entry, specimen receipt, and provide customer service to laboratory customers.

· Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Experience: Minimum 2 years of current Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) experience in a hospital/medical center environment.

· Certification: ASCP, AMT, HEW, or equivalent certification is required. The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree. Career tech diplomas or other diploma types are not acceptable.

· Specialization: Strong proficiency in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology is required.

· Vaccination: Initial vaccination series is required. Exemptions may be approved for religious or medical reasons.

Additional Information:

· Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday rotation when scheduled.

· On-Call Requirements: Not applicable.
